Nazir Shoura (1906-1986)
Nazir Shoura was born in 1906 and died in 1986. He gained experience in building design and construction during his many trips throughout Europe. Shoura worked as an engineer in the municipality of Damascus, and he took part in designing many private residential buildings in areas such as Abu Rumaneh and Al-Rawda in Damascus shortly following Syria’s independence from the French Mandate. Shoura took a special interest in the artistic details of his buildings, and chief of all in iron works.01 “Villa Shoura”, a building owned by Shoura’s family, was one of his most prominent designs.
